A Place to Gather

I’ve recently been dreaming of revamping the feel of my dining room. I enjoy the warmth and the invitation that a well curated room can bring to a meal or any event, even if it be a simple dinner for two. To create a place that is centered around my true sense of style is an overall personal home goal. So whilst I continue to dream, here is an idea of what I imagine this kind of space to be.

A Place to Gather

Light as Air

A catalyst to how we feel can be based on our circumstances, those that we can and can’t change. Turning our faces to the warmth of the sun and clothing ourselves in pieces that are light and airy can lift the burden of life in a physical and even a mental way. This may all be superficial but maybe it can reverse the effects of melancholy from the outside in.

The Power of Facial Oils

I am a major proponent of facial oil but admittedly was fearful of it’s mythical repercussions before I tried it out for myself. My skin history includes lots of dryness, excessive oil because of dryness and severe blemishes. So I can say I have experienced every extreme there could be possible. Skincare has been something that I have devoted time, money and effort into. I even weigh it more valuable than daily makeup application. I want to ensure that my skin is healthy and protected. I only hope that someday, slowly and surely, that my investment into skincare and a cleaner diet can get me to the point of complete skin confidence and clarity.

This is the current face oil I use but I wouldn’t mind diving into some other options. Even the types of oil formulations/combinations can be unique for your own skin needs. What’s important is to assess your skin and diet honestly, do your research and if needed, consult a dermatologist. Here are a few oils that have had a recent buzz in the skincare world.

Everyday Crossbody

Trying to choose the right investment bag has proven more difficult with all the options out there. But I have narrowed down my exact needs through looking into my lifestyle and preference for the items I need to carry. I have come to the conclusion that I personally don’t need to carry much as anything too heavy can cause a strain on my shoulders. Taking that all into account, including my personal style of streamlined simple designs, I have a list of handbags here that I am highly considering in my quest to find the right one. Let me know which one is your favorite and also a personal dream bag of yours!

  • Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis – I originally saw this bag in monogram canvas and loved the shape and the divided internal pockets. Once I saw it in the empreinte leather I knew it was the perfect combination of design and material.
  • Prada Pionnière bag – The classic saddle bag shape is what drew me to this design along with the smooth leather and wide strap. The studs that make up the strap adjustments add the perfect amount of gold detail that I prefer.
  • Saint Laurent Sac De Jour Nano leather tote – This has been a dream bag of mine for some time. It encompasses all the reasons why I love the brand, the mix of simplicity and beauty. The accordion-like side details add a subtle texture to the flat look of the bag.
  • Gucci GG Marmont matelasse mini bag – I originally liked the Soho Disco version of this bag but this new season redesign has me liking the camera bag design even more. It may seem like a trend piece at the moment but because of the classic shape of the bag, there isn’t need to worry about it’s longevity in your closet for seasons to come. I also like the simple zipper tassel and chevron design in comparison to the Soho Disco.
  • Louis Vuitton Twice – I had never known of this design until a couple years ago and it’s kind of like the perfect basic design, in my opinion. For some it may seem boring but for me it would be wearable for a lifetime. I’m all about choosing to invest for the long-term, especially when devoting so much money to an item. The three pocket design is perfect for those who like to compartmentalize like me.
  • Saint Laurent Monogramme Sac Universite medium textured-leather shoulder bag – This bag comes in both a smooth and pebbled leather but the textured design seems less prone to visible scratches. It seems both practical and statement to me, especially with the large gold logo. I don’t usually prefer flashy brand logos on my handbags but the design of it is minimalist enough for me to love it still.

Warm Weather Wishes

Warmer months are ahead but living in a rainier climate makes me want to be prepared for anything in these spring months. Dresses in knit and denim materials are still cozy enough to layer under a light weight raincoat and feel some warmth. If there’s a chance to look forward to hot beach days, velvet swimsuits have caught my eye, especially in luxe dark hues. I imagine that the perfect additions to my boyfriend jeans are: a sweatshirt with a sweet saying, sleek mules, a geometric bag and tiny gold hoops. The look of effortless vibes, that I love to wear, are encompassed in this combination. What’s your favorite outfit combo?

Lip Care

I am a lip balm buying addict. I am not afraid to admit it. This is the collection I currently use. As you can see, it’s a very broad price range but it just shows there is a great option at every price point.

Pricier Options:

Drugstore Tinted:

  • Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in My Pink – This is a drugstore dupe for the Dior Addict Lip Glow. It’s very similar in its concept of supposedly adjusting its pink hue to your pH levels. Here is an interesting read on this concept from Into The Gloss.
  • Revlon Kiss Balm Lip Balm in Juicy Peach & Crisp Apple – The scent claims of these caught my eye at the drugstore and they did not disappoint in that area. Being infused with natural fruit oils make the tints both smooth and moisturizing.

Back to Basics:

  • Burt’s Bees Lip Balm in Strawberry & Vanilla Bean – This is a classic in the natural balm realm. These two scents are my personal favorites. The vanilla one reminds me of the beloved throwback of a cake flavored Lip Smackers.
  • The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Solid Oil Lips – I like slathering this on in the evenings for its oily texture. It stays on overnight for the perfect wake-up lip remedy.

It’s in the Jeans

Denim is a part of my wardrobe I splurge on, aside from outerwear and handbags. The key points for investing into hefty budget pieces are looking into the features and the construction. A good piece of denim, in my opinion, is the combination of elements. These elements are color, style, fit, and material composition. Some of my personal favorite brands are pricey but I can say that the investment is well worth it, as you wear them over and over again. The molding process is evident in comparison to the dreaded stretching that I have experienced with cheaper jeans. I prefer brands like Rag & Bone and RE/DONE, a company that salvages actual vintage Levi’s jeans into the perfect fit. Below are some on my current wish list:
